NEW DATES ANNOUNCED! Follow the ancient Silk Road this November and join us in the storied Samarkand, Uzbekistan for the 21st session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 21)to the UNCCD. From 13 to 17 November 2023, UNCCD Parties will gather at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center to review the implementation of the UNCCD along the Strategic Objectives of the 2018 – 2030 UNCCD Strategic Framework and provide targeted recommendations on strategic objectives. Updates on specific activities supporting Parties in their voluntary Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) target-setting efforts and on how they advance action towards implementation with the support of the Global Mechanism and relevant Partners, including the LDN Fundwill be also presented.Furthermore, the Intergovernmental Working Group oneffective policy and implementation measures for addressingdrought under the UNCCD will present its progress report for consideration by Parties at CRIC21. Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) can be achieved by following judicious applications of Soil and Water Conservation in all types of land uses.Soil and Water Conservation for Sustainable Food Production should be given top priority in the prevalent climatic anomaly related disaster management. In this regard, soil science requires integration of studies on massive soil mass to soil particles and colloidal clay micelle, soil microbial community, soil organic matter, soil nutrients, soil moisture and their uptake by plants, and also management of aquatic environment. Moreover, it requires reviews of the works done on physical, chemical, microbial and biochemical properties of soils and their interactions with climate and hydrological conditions towards application of soil and water conservation methods on priority basis for successful crop cultivation, and achieving 15 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Consequently, present agricultural research and field works should be targeted on application of soil and water conservation methods in individual agricultural plots and further development of soil and water conservation as a full-fledged stream of science.https://lnkd.in/gfNX4CjAhttps://lnkd.in/g-my6P6D
