Game Recap: Football |
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A strong aerial attack from the road squad saw the Yale football team take down Penn, 31-10, at Franklin Field. The Bulldogs improved to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Ivy League, while the Quakers fell to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Key Players
- Grant Jordan and David Pantelis were two offensive rebels for Yale against Penn on the gridiron.
- Grant Jordan finished off 24-of-30 passes with four touchdowns. His 80-percent completion rate against the Quakers was a season best.
- David Pantelis led the Bulldogs with eight receptions and 123 receiving yards, including a pair of remarkable catches, and one touchdown.
Big Moments
- Yale's offensive came to play from the first kick with an 11-play opening drive. After Grant Jordan threw a 31-yard pass, caught in highlight reel fashion by David Pantelis, the duo finished off the drive by connecting on a three-yard reception.
- Penn's first drive ended with a muffed punt by Yale, which briefly put Penn back on offense, but the Bulldogs' defensive threat Abu Kamara forced a fumble, and the tables quickly turned.
- Five plays, two minutes, and 82 yards later, Chase Nenad found himself on the receiving end of a 19-yard pass. Nenad powered his way through the Quakers defense for Yale's second touchdown that gave them a two-score lead eight minutes into the game.
Bulldog Bytes
- David Pantelis' 123 receiving yards were a career high. His previous career-high was against Dartmouth on Oct. 12 when he had 117.
- It was the third time in Pantelis' career where he had 100+ receiving yards in a single game.
- Receiver Mason Shipp had seven receptions for 70 yards. Seven receptions is a career-high for the senior.
- Defensively, Abu Kamara continued to be a force for Yale. He led the team in total tackles with seven (5 solo, 2 assisted), had one sack for two yards, one forced fumble, and an interception.
- He now has forced fumbles in back-to-back games, also recorded his second career sack and second career interception.
- Jaxson Santiago's 29-yard reception was the longest in his career.
- This was the fourth time this season where the Bulldogs have scored 30 or more points.
- Yale's defense held Penn scoreless in the first, third, and fourth quarters.
- Yale snapped a two-game skid against the Quakers and improved its all-time series to 52-37-1.
