As the 3-year anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal approaches, I find myself up and down mentally. I came across this picture from a response we led to a massive flood on the Helmand River in Spring, 2005. The courage and humanity I saw that day will never leave me. Young men and women just like this, thousands of miles away from home flying into dark, churning weather to save the lives of people they don't even know. I suppose the political debate will rage for years. Whatever. I'm just glad I got to stand on the shoulders of warriors like this. #NeverForget #NobodyIsComing #Veterans
