MI vs LSG: Rating every player’s performance as Lucknow finish their IPL 2024 season with a win over Mumbai

Despite their triumph over the five-time champions, Lucknow Super Giants have failed to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, it is the joint-worst season for the Mumbai Indians.

MI vs LSG Player Ratings: In a close encounter at Wankhede Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious against Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in Match 67 of IPL 2024.

LSG’s batting started slow, losing wickets early. However, a blistering knock of 75 runs from Nicholas Pooran in just 29 balls propelled them to a respectable total of 214/6. In reply, Mumbai Indians had a promising start, reaching 78/0 after 8 overs. But the dismissal of Rohit Sharma triggered a collapse. Despite a fighting fifty from Naman Dhir (62*), MI fell short by 18 runs, finishing their innings at 196/6.

This win ended LSG’s season on a high note, while Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the points table. Nicholas Pooran’s power-hitting knock was deservedly awarded the Man of the Match title.

MI vs LSG Player Ratings: Did any player score 10/10?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

KL Rahul (6/10): Despite becoming the highest run-getter against MI in all T20s, KL Rahul played a sluggish knock. The conditions at Wankhede weren’t that tricky but he batted for more than 17 overs just to score runs at a rate of 134.15 (55 off 41).

Devdutt Padikkal (0/10): Was slotted in place of Quinton de Kock but the youngster’s horrific IPL form continued as he was trapped in front in the very first over by Nuwan Thushara for a duck.

Marcus Stoinis (6/10): Looked to muscle the ball in the powerplay and even smashed five fours. He made 23 off 20 balls but fell as soon as a spinner came on.

Deepak Hooda (4/10): A poor series comes to an end for Hooda, who could only make 11 off 9 balls.

Nicholas Pooran (9.5/10): The star of the night was undoubtedly Nicholas Pooran. He proved to be the difference between the two sides, smashing 75 off a mere 29 balls at an insane strike rate of 258.92. Pooran’s clean hitting was a sight to behold honestly!

Ayush Badoni (8/10): The youngster made an impact as he added 22* runs in the ten balls he faced.

Krunal Pandya (8/10): Despite his numbers weren’t through the roof, Krunal massively contributed to LSG’s win. He first hammered a six and a four before delivering a wily spell of 1/29. Moreover, the senior Pandya’s fielding was top-notch as well, as he made a superlative jump to save a certain six in the last over.

Arshad Khan (4/10): After a heroic game against Delhi Capitals, Arshad wasn’t as good against his former franchise. He was out for a duck and bowled just two overs, going wicketless.

Matt Henry (6/10): The Kiwi international got a game but was taken apart by Rohit Sharma. Henry leaked 24 off the 12 balls he bowled.

Ravi Bishnoi (8/10): The leg-spinner took two prized wickets of Rohit Sharma and Nehal Wadhera. He stuck to his lengths brilliantly but made a couple of howlers on the field.

Mohsin Khan (6.5/10): Wasn’t at his best. The left-arm pacer leaked runs at an economy rate of 11.2 and was lucky to get the scalp of Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Rohit Sharma (8.5/10): A vintage-looking Hitman was on song. He was looking in an awesome touch and could’ve easily scored a hundred had he not ruffled himself against the spin of Bishnoi. Rohit got a standing ovation as he made 68 off 38 in what could be his last IPL game for the MI franchise.

Dewald Brevis (5/10): Gave a decent hand to Rohit Sharma at the top of the order but failed to go big. Seemed to bat in a shell and thus made only 23 off 20.

Ishan Kishan (2/10): Batted in the middle-order this time but looked extremely out of sorts. The southpaw made a painstaking 15-ball 14. Had he come up with a cameo of his own, the match could’ve been a closer one. Kishan’s wicket-keeping, however, was great in the first innings.

Naman Dhir (9.5/10): Naman did all he could despite batting at number seven. The youngster oozed excellence as he struck some delightful blows en route to his unbeaten knock of 62 off 28.

Suryakumar Yadav (0/10): A three-ball duck for the maestro. It was his third duck of the season.

Hardik Pandya (4.5/10): The MI captain was subpar on the field, failed to contribute in any department. He leaked as many as 27 runs off 12 balls and could only add 16 runs in the second innings.

Nehal Wadhera (5/10): Bowled first time in T20s, Wadhera fared decently with the ball. However, he was out with a score of only one.

Romario Shepherd (4/10): A forgetful game for the big West Indian, who gave away 30 runs after bowling just a couple of overs.

Anshul Kamboj (3/10): The youngster looked impressive on his debut but was off his radar vs LSG. Kamboj nearly leaked 50 runs in his three overs.

Piyush Chawla (9/10): The experienced campaigner was at it once again. The second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history, Chawla added three to his tally, dismissing the likes of KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis.

Arjun Tendulkar (7.5/10): Junior Tendulkar began his spell in a great fashion, swinging the ball with a restricted lines and lengths. However, he was unfortunate go off the field due to cramps.

Nuwan Thushara (9/10): The Sri Lankan was perhaps MI’s best bowler vs LSG. He commenced the match with a beauty to dismiss Devdutt Padikkal before claiming the biggest breakthrough in the form of Nicholas Pooran. Thushara ended with 3/28.
